Got home from NYC late yesterday afternoon, and I’m up crazy early this morning. I was conked out before 8pm last night, which ruled. We did ~2000 miles and hit zero traffic jams, thank the gods. Yesterday, the day we would have flown home had we not bailed due to juju, a Delta plane filled up with smoke and made an emergency landing in Atlanta. It was not the flight we would have been on, but we were justified to drive, goddamnit, and it was legitimately fun being on the road. I’ve got a shitload of driving coming up the next few months, so it was a good test run.
On our last morning in the city, we walked to the new bagel shop getting all the reviews. Freezing down the metal canyon of 7th Ave, the sky was blue, but the morning sun was too low to throw any warm light on us, no matter which side we walked on.
We arrived and the line went out the door and down the block. I thought, A bagel can’t be worth the shame of waiting in that line, but Mal had her heart set. While we waited, I huffed and puffed so she knew my feelings a little bit and looked up highly-regarded bagel shops within a three-block radius. There were several!
The line went quickly, though. I waited on the sidewalk in front of the spot after we ordered, and noticed that the buildings around the bagel shop were not tall at all. The sun was on me and the shadows were long on the block.
Mal said the fact that the place was hot shit actually served as a self-fulfilling prophecy; the bagels were coming right off the rack, fresh as hell, and you almost never get bagels that way. New Yorkers with strong bagel opinions can reach her with any comments at malory9@gmail.com. We ate them on a bench in the corner park across the street and obviously they were yummy.

Two boxes of Little Engines t-shirts were delivered while we were away. These shirts are fucking awesome and I want to put a picture on here, but can’t because they give away the cover of Issue Ten, which is imminent.
I spent the morning with a Sharpie marking S, M, L, or XL on masking tape and wrapping it around each individual rolled up shirt individually. Big flashbacks to my merch-guy days. I’ve got plastic stacking bins over here!
t-shirttttt please
Hey can I buy a T shirt? Size small?!
